This is a Part of the current Task/Training phase for the new Recruits of the MIT Gaming Clubs Programming sub-department. This video is a continuation of the programming tutorial by unreal sensei: https://youtu.be/ITCWa3oLNAQ Tutorial by Kenzel Keenan D'souza: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxmsySbe12LYAMnIzT9wCJA Chapters: 0:00 Duplicate the Map and Have the name begin with FTEST_name 0:33 Create new folder called test and place the duplicate map in test folder 1:02 Open the map and Get rid of extra things like blocks, extra targets, player start, etc. (You can select multiple objects using ctrl+Left Click) 1:42 Place a FirstPersonCharacter (FPC) in front of a BP_target 2:12 Open the FPC blueprint and go to the event graph 2:22 Go to the Spawn projectile Comment Box and delete all unnecessary inputs like vr motion control, touch,etc. and delete any thing extra that was required just for that specific type of input. Keep the InputActionFire Node 2:39 Select everything in the comment apart from the InputActionFire Node and right click and then collapse to select “Collapse to Function”. You can rename the function whatever you want. 3:34 Go to the test folder and right click to create a blueprint class, when the menu comes up, click on “all classes“ and search for functional test and click on that. It can be named whatever you want. 4:04 Open it and Go to the event graph. In the variable section add one that is for the target (It will have Actor type)and another that is for the character(It will have FirstPersonCharacter type).Click on the eyeball thing to make the variables visible in the map later 5:13 Trigger the Shoot ball function on start up. 5:35 If the target gets hit( which is detected by the OnActorHit Event) that means the test succeeds 6:07 Head back to the map and place the functional test BP into the scene 6:24 Click on the Functional Test BP in the scene and go to the details panel. Look for observation point and click on the eye dropper next to it and select the character in the scene. 6:50 Go to Tools Tab~Session Frontend~Automation~Project~Functional Tests and select it 7:07 Click on Start Test and it should work 7:25 Success As of recording this video, I could not find any other good tutorials for Functional/Unit Testing for UE5 and thus I decided to make one myself.
